Hi ETHIOPIA Team
On Dec 13, Love Out Louder Day, we have one more opportunity before 2008 comes to a close, to minister the good news in person to our community. I pray that you will take your family to minister with you this time...
Reading 2nd Cor 5, today, this is really the summary and reason why we are compelled to love and share with our community, locally and globally:
Reconciliation: To God Himself through Christ
v.18 All things are of God, who has reconciled us to Himself through Christ Jesus
Our Ministry of Reconciliation
v.18b-19a and has given us the ministry of reconciliation... that is that God was in Christ reconciling the world to Himself,
Removing our Trespasses
v.19b .. not imputing their trespasses to them
The Word
v.19c ... and has committed to us the word of reconciliation.
Hear God's Heart for the unreached and unsaved through us:
Ambassadors for Christ
v.20 Now then, we are ambassadors for Christ, as though God were pleading through us: we implore you on Christ's behalf, be reconciled to God.
Let this be our mind and heart as we moved towards the holiday season, towards the goal of joining Compassion International to reach the orphans, the widowed, the single moms, the street kids and HIV infected families in Ethiopia with the healing word of Jesus.
Merry Christmas & has a Christ-filled year ahead, proclaiming the good news as HIS PROVEN AMBASSADOR.
From the Youth Ministry, christabel

MORE DETAILS ON ETHIOPIA : Debre Zeyit
Dear Team and Parents
Compassion rang me up with some awesome good news last week. Our trip price is now confirmed at $2,650. That's $150 lower than our projected low cost of $2,800. It will include cost of visas, all transportation on the ground, all food and lodging, translators, and the cost of ministry projects included.
They have handpicked 4 Compassion projects for us to work with, and we will be in a town that has the most needs. Simfret, the Ethiopian Staff in Compassion HQ said we will be at a very safe community that is near the Ethiopian Air Base. There is also a HIV community within Debre Zeyit, where prostitution is common, unfortunately women and children are victims.
Ministry will take place alongside the local churches throughout this mission trip. Whether for work, ministry, games, sports outreach, and perhaps even an open air rally, we will be ministering with an Ethiopian for the Ethiopians. Giving us every opportunity for discipleship and evangelism.
By the way, Debre Zeyit in Amharic means Mt. of Olives. What a divinely appointed location, right? Ministry to children and youths between 4 to 16 yrs old. It is located right in the centre of Ethiopia.
Weather: Hotter than Florida in the day and light jacket at night. You can google more as we prepare for the mission training. Keep your heart close to the LORD and intercede for the work, redemption and salvation that will take place on this Trip.
Blessings, christabel

Tips on Writing a Prayer Support Letter
Hi Ethiopia Team and Parents
I am going to ask each and every potential team member to pray about writing a prayer support letter before Thanksgiving. You can send them to me for review before you mail them out. I love to read what the LORD is doing in your lives, and what He is weaving in your hearts, for greater purpose and strengthening. That's the tone to set for the person you are writing this prayer support letter to.
A few helpful tips to write a successful prayer support letter:
1. Express Your Heart. Why is God calling you to Ethiopia, and what is He calling you to do? (Your role on the team??)
2. What are your prayer requests? Be specific.
3. What is God doing or has already done in Ethiopia via Compassion (Eg. 290 Compassion Sites, Foster Care Homes, HIV Projects to educate moms and children that are victims of HIV or being exposed to it.
4. Let them know of ways you will be raising monies for this trip.. (Family fundraiser, airlines miles donation (Lufthansa), Matching Grant if your parents' employer or friends work in a company that has a matching grant for employees, cleaning the neighbors car for cash, sewing aprons for sale, etc.)
5. Give specifics about the trip, the dates, places, and what you will be doing?
6. Donation Info : How can someone join in your labor of love? How can they donate to you, your team or the outreaches on the island?
7. Spell Check & Re-Read your letter. Make them personal.
8. Send it out to family, friends, teachers, doctors, friends of your parents, etc.
9. Have Fun. Until we ask the LORD for help, we labor in vain.
10. Pray, Pray, Pray
God Bless, christabel

Updates about Ethiopia
Dear Liquid High School Students & Parents
Want to keep you updated with the planning of our trip, so that you are constantly praying for Ethiopia. God has provided us some unbelievable air-tickets and instead of transiting in 3 countries, we now have a one-stop flight on Lufthansa to Ethiopia via Frankfurt. Also, for a much lower price than 4 weeks ago. If you are interested to go, please start writing your support letters and have it sent out before Thanksgiving. You can email me a copy so that I can help you with it. We need you all to register online so that we can reserve seats and make a deposit on this flight for you.
Next, Compassion International had advised us this week that we will have a 3-day opportunity to minister in Addis Ababa, in the slum areas. Followed by a 6-day ministry oppportunity in a rural village that is 3 hours drive away from Addis Ababa. It is a Compassion site that has the most needs. Please start praying for the salvation of souls, healing of the sick, nurturing of the hurt; especially through our visitation at homes of Muslims and a foster care home for orphans (from families with HIV deaths).
Keep praying and Trusting in Jesus.

Welcome to Liquid ETHIOPIA Blog
Dear High School Students
I am so stoked after the Parents Meeting, especially knowing that you have six months to get your finances together for a trip to AFRICA is a huge relief.
You definitely want to pick up info that you missed at the Parents Meeting last week. You can email me at christabelc@calvaryftl.org or call 954-556-4364, and I will try to help you or your parents with their queries.
We also showed a video on Ethiopia, and would like for you to check it out, discuss what you see and hear visually about Ethiopia in the video clip with your family, especially if God has called you to take part in, you need their full support.
|click here to watch the video|
We are encouraging all of you (since we can only bring 30 students) who felt led to take part in this pioneer mission trip with Compassion to Ethiopia, to do the following:
1. Read this Book: "Too Small to Ignore" by Wess Stafford
This book totally changes my idea of mission work in Africa, how unique their culture is compared to the Western or Asian ones. How children are raised and as so important, to be seen and heard. We will discuss this during our training.
2. Get Immunizations updated for Ethiopia - Updated List from The Ethiopia Trip Packet
3. Get Registered online when it opens on Oct 1, 08.
4. Put together a fundraising and support letter, that will clearly share why you desire and felt called to Ethiopia.
5. Pray for African children that are orphaned by parents who have died from HIV. (We will meet many of them on the trip!!!)
6. Pick up a Lonely Planet Phrase Book - Amharic Language.
7. Send me creative ideas on fundraising that you and a group of your friends are committed to doing.
8. Pray weekly for Ethiopia and what God is weeding out in your life.
9. Speak out for those who can't, especially the poor, the hungry, the widow, the orphaned in our local community.
10. Be steadfast in your faith. Monies don't move mountains but faith does.
I can't wait to see what God has in store for us.
Blessings, christabel
